A combination of base malts and dextrin malt may be all you need for your West Coast IPA recipe but if youre after more complexity sweetness and color consider adding in some crystal malt. Try using Crystal 45 for 1 to 3 percent of your grain bill to add a little extra oomph to the malt profile. This IPA Rocks and I think is a solid West Coast IPA.

If you use lots of hops in the boil 50-60 IBU then build up a water profile favoring Sulfate and have the beer finish drier youll have a very nice west coast boye. One of my favorite WC IPAs is Bits Bobs by Reubens from Seattle. Its definitely a new age IPA because of Sabro but its nice and dry has bitterness and is absolutely delicious.
